Two ways to delete
Trash button
Select an object, then click the trash icon in the Select tool menu.
Keyboard
Press Delete or Backspace whilst an object is selected.
Tip: If nothing is selected, the trash button stays disabled and the keys do nothing — select something first.
Note on locked objects: Some objects can be 'locked' to prevent resizing or rotating; you'll see a locked selection box (red dashed). You can still delete a locked object in the current version. If that's not what you want, unlock first with Ctrl/Cmd + L.
